Located in ‘Green Belt’ limited options for further extensions. A Feasibility Study made a full analysis of the existing cottage, the brief, environmental factors, historic development, and existing built volumes to establish a way forward.
The proposal removes a poor late C20th kitchen extension to reveal the historic cottage rear elevation. The layout is rationalised and a new kitchen extension sympathetically contrasts with the restored cottage to create a courtyard and open up the interior to the southern aspect. A new dormer added to a 1980’s extension creates an upstairs bathroom.
