Sheldon Court

Devon

This long term multi phased project, started with a Feasibility Study to try and understand how to make better use of the house, outbuildings and gardens to suit the new owners varied ambitions, and give budget costs to understand how the work could be best phased.

The Project

The house, with classical Georgian proportions, had been extended to the west blocking much light into the kitchen at the heart of the house. To unlock this a new Oriel opens up the kitchen and new dining space to the south and west – gaining views across a courtyard garden.

Reintroducing an entrance hallway will recreate the Georgian cellular room layout whilst reopening south facing windows to an enlarged new build Orangery / Garden Room opens the primary living spaces to the main garden and natural light.

Unfortunately, an accidental burst water main pipe caused serious flood damage throughout the house. Corbel have carried out an enabling works to strip back affected areas and the first phase of work is about to start on site to repair the flood damage and to reconfigure the upstairs layout to improve bathrooms, energy efficiency and fire protection. Future phases will complete the ground floor Oriel and Garden Room alterations.
